Introducing the Visible Catalysts

The Visible Catalysts are a group of six colleagues who inspire or accelerate significant change and action in the Visible research trajectory. They will play a foundational role in a new cycle of research and support for socially engaged practices on a global scale. The Catalysts are founders, directors, or curators of institutions and organisations that address the urgent issues of our time, primarily through artistic projects that proactively engage with climate emergencies.

Each Catalyst has been invited to nominate one or more long-term, situated projects that embody transformative and regenerative action within a vulnerable or fragile ecosystem. Working across diverse geopolitical contexts, these nominated projects present a range of methodologies, languages, and approaches to practice.

The six Visible Catalysts are:

Antonia Alampi, director of Spore Initiative, Berlin;
Zoe Butt, director of ‘in-tangible institute’, Chiang Mai;
Miguel Angel López, chief curator of Museo Universitario del Chopo, UNAM, Mexico City;
Julia Morandeira Arrizabalaga, director of Study at Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía, Madrid;
Ippolito Pestellini Laparelli, founder of 2050.plus, Milan;
Lucia Pietroiusti, curator of General Ecology at Serpentine Galleries, London.

The Visible Situated Fellowships for this year will be announced in June 2025.
